Southwest will make Sarasota its 10th Florida market with flights beginning on Feb. 14.
The carrier will serve Sarasota three times daily from Baltimore, twice daily from Chicago Midway and Nashville and once daily from Houston Hobby.
The carrier has also set its launch date for Savannah, Ga. service. Beginning March 11, Southwest will serve Savannah daily from Nashville, Houston Hobby, Dallas Love Field and Chicago Midway and twice daily from Baltimore.
Sarasota and Savannah are among several new destinations Southwest is launching in amid the Covid-19 pandemic as it chases what demand remains, while downsizing on many longstanding routes.
Other new airports that the carrier has begun serving or plans to serve include Miami; Houston Bush; Chicago O'Hare; Palm Spring, Calif.; Montrose, Steamboat Springs and Colorado Springs, Colo.; and Jackson, Miss.
