The TSA screened nearly 1.3 million people Sunday, the most in a single day since the Covid-19 pandemic began.

Sunday also marked sixth day in the last 10 in which the screeners' numbers have exceeded 1 million, TSA spokeswoman Lisa Farbstein tweeted early Monday morning.

"If you choose to travel, please wear a mask," she wrote.

The higher travel volume has come despite the CDC recommending that Americans postpone holiday travel. More than 1.3 million Americans tested positive for Covid-19 between Dec. 21 and Dec. 27.

Nevertheless, total TSA throughput remained down 57.8% year over year for the week that ended Sunday, agency figures show.
