LOS ANGELES -- EV
Rental Cars signed a deal to market its environmentally friendly
automobiles through Fox Rent A Car locations across the U.S.
Under the agreement,
Fox Rent A Car will have access to EVs fleet of more than 260
hybrid vehicles, as well as some 300 more currently on
order.
EV Rental Cars is one
of the first car rental companies to offer the Ford Escape Hybrid.
Its fleet also includes the Honda Insight, the Honda Civic Hybrid,
the Toyota Prius and the Honda Civic natural gas
vehicles.
EV Rental Cars has the
largest and most diverse hybrid fleet in the U.S., said Joe Knight,
executive vice president of Fox Rent A Car. With more consumers
concerned about rising fuel prices and an increased concern with
environmental issues, we want to offer our customers not only the
highest standard of service, but exactly the type of vehicle they
demand. And increasingly, more drivers are making hybrid vehicles
their first choice.
Jeff Pink, EV Rental
Cars CEO said the Fox agreement will help open new markets for
EV.
They have always been
a firm concerned with the environment, and we felt they would be a
good fit with our organization, Pink said. When our six-year
contract with Budget Rent A Car recently expired, we decided the
time was right to team with Fox and help grow our business at a
much faster pace.
Fox Rent A Car has 21
rental locations in nine states plus international affiliate
locations in Toronto; Ireland; Italy; Mexico; New Zealand; and the
Dominican Republic, while EVs reach encompasses Los Angeles,
Phoenix and Washington.
