Airbnb is working with startup Niido on an initiative called
Niido Powered by Airbnb. Their first apartment building will open in Kissimmee,
Florida (near the Walt Disney World Resort) in early 2018.
The partnership will receive as much as $200 million in
equity funding from Brookfield Property Partners and $20 million from
Silverpeak Real Estate Partners.
Niido Powered by Airbnb looks to have three additional
apartment complexes open by the end of next year.
Under the initiative, tenants would enter into one-year
leases and would be able to rent the units out for as many as 180 days a year
under a revenue-sharing agreement with management. Niido will have an app that
will be integrated with Airbnb and will provide booking and management services
as well as keyless entry.
In addition to its nearly 28,000 apartment units, Brookfield
owns and manages the Atlantis Paradise Island in the Bahamas and the Diplomat
Beach Resort in Hollywood, Fla.
