Alterra Mountain Co., the ski resort group formed with the
merger of Intrawest and Mammoth Resorts, will sell a ski pass that covers 12 of
its own North American resorts plus 11 others.
The Ikon Pass will be available for the 2018-19 ski season.
Alterra's resorts include Colorado's Steamboat and Winter
Park; California's Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows and Mammoth Mountain; Utah's
Deer Valley; Vermont's Stratton; and Mont Tremblant in Quebec.
Additionally, the Ikon Pass will get skiers into Colorado's
Aspen Snowmass; Utah's Alta and Snowbird; and Wyoming's Jackson Hole Mountain,
among others.
Season ski passes that include resorts from multiple owners
aren't uncommon. The Mountain Collective and the MAX Pass include resorts from
a number of ownership groups.
Alterra didn't release pricing details. The Ikon Pass
website said more specifics were coming soon.
Ikon Pass will compete against Vail Resorts' Epic Pass. Vail
owns 13 North American resorts, including Colorado's Vail and Breckenridge;
Utah's Park City; California's Heavenly and Kirkwood; and Vermont's Stowe.
Alterra said that the Mountain Collective, the season pass that
includes six resorts that are part of Ikon, will be in effect through at least
the 2018-19 season.
