The Grand Hyatt Baha Mar is now taking reservations starting
May 8, three weeks earlier than planned. Last week, the hotel opened its
reservations for stays starting May 29.
Room rates start at $325 a night a la carte and $364 a night
for a "bed and breakfast" option, not including the resort fee of $30
a day.
The Grand Hyatt is the first hotel to open at the Bahamas
mega-resort. The hotel had a soft opening for VIPs
and media members on April 21.
Baha Mar has opened its 100,000-square-foot casino -- the
Caribbean's largest -- at the base of the Grand Hyatt as well as a handful of
its 40-plus restaurants and bars, at least three of its pools, some shops, its 30,000-square-foot
Espa spa, and its Jack Nicklaus-designed Royal Blue golf course.
The Grand Hyatt had about 300 rooms available for the soft
opening and was slated to have about 900 available on May 29.
The $4.2 billion resort, the most expensive private
development in the Bahamas history, was originally scheduled to open in late
2014, but had been beset by financial and legal issues.
