Choice Hotels asks Trump administration for 'balanced approach'

|

Choice Hotels International has publicly commented on the president's travel ban on seven Muslim-majority countries, saying that the Trump administration needs "to find a balanced approach that promotes travel."

"More specifically, we ask the administration to welcome international visitors and immigrants who travel to our country to enjoy our sights and landmarks, conduct business, visit family, and to live and work, while providing appropriate travel security solutions that protect all Americans," said Choice Hotels, parent of brands such as Comfort Inn, Quality Inn, Clarion, Ascend Collection, Cambria and Econo Lodge.

The company said it would waive cancellation fees for travelers impacted by the ban.

Other U.S. hotel companies have either declined to comment on the ban or referred questions to the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA), which said this week that any review of potential travel restrictions for inbound tourists should be completed "quickly," though the trade group didn't appear to take a position on the travel ban.
