The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas has begun taking reservations for a Dec. 15 opening.
The 2,995-room casino-resort is on the Las Vegas Strip, between the Bellagio and CityCenter. The Associated Press reported that 987 rooms at the two-tower resort won’t open on Dec. 15, as management plans to open most of them incrementally through July 2011.
According to the resort’s website, the Cosmopolitan will have 11 restaurants, including the Wicked Spoon Buffet; Jaleo, a Jose Andres eatery featuring Spanish tapas; Todd Mark Miller’s STK steakhouse; China Poblano, a Chinese-Mexican fusion restaurant by Jose Andres; and Comme Ca, a French brasserie by David Myers.
Other resort features are 100,000 square feet of casino space; 60,000 square feet of shopping; 43,000 square feet of spa, health club and salon offerings; three pools; and a nightclub run by the Tao Group.
Generally, midweek rates for the first five months of 2011 range from about $150 to $200, according to the resort’s website. Weekend rates generally range from $250 to $300.
Deutsche Bank owns the $3.9 billion resort. It foreclosed on the development in summer 2008 after developer Ian Bruce Eichner defaulted on a $760 million loan.
