The Four Seasons Hotel at the Surf
Club, the resort redeveloped at the iconic Surf Club site north of Miami Beach,
has opened.
Built on a nine-acre beachfront
site in the town of Surfside, the resort includes the 1930 architectural
landmark originally built by tire magnate Harvey Firestone as well as three
adjoining buildings designed by architect Richard Meier.
The hotel has 77 rooms and 40
beachfront cabanas, each with a full bathroom and air conditioning. The resort
also features Le Sirenuse restaurant, as that brand grows from its hospitality
roots in Positano, Italy.
The original Surf Club and its
Mediterranean Revival building opened in 1930 and drew regulars such as
Elizabeth Taylor, Frank Sinatra and Winston Churchill. The resort displays an
artist’s installation depicting the site’s history.
