Hilton's Tapestry Collection has first hotel

The Tapestry Collection, a soft brand that Hilton announced in January, has its first hotel, the Hotel Skyler Syracuse.

The 58-room hotel is just the fifth in the U.S. and Syracuse's first to achieve Platinum-level certification under Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards. Amid the environmentally-friendly amenities are lights that are activated by room-key use and the use of organic fabrics.

The Hotel Skyler was built as a temple in 1922 and later housed the Salt City Center for the Performing Arts. It is located in the city's University Hill district.

The hotel will contribute to Youth Service America to support local arts programs.

The upscale Tapestry Collection will feature converted full-service hotels. Hilton has agreements in place for two dozen hotels to join the collection.
