Hilton is trying out a new room category for guests who prefer to work out in their rooms instead of a gym.

The "Five Feet to Fitness" concept has been piloted at the Parc 55 in San Francisco and the Hilton McLean Tysons Corner in Northern Virginia. Hilton plans add rooms under the new category at hotels in Atlanta, Chicago, Las Vegas and New York.

The rooms include a Wattbike and Gym Rax training station with weights, mats, resistance pulleys and a "Fitness Kiosk" touchscreen with more than 200 fitness videos.

A king bed fitness room at the Parc 55 in early June starts at $255 a night, compared with $209 for a conventional king room.

Other brands that offer in-room exercise equipment include InterContinental Hotel Group's Even Hotels, Tryp by Wyndham and Omni Hotels & Resorts.

Earlier this year, the Cornell Center for Hospitality Research reported that just one in five U.S. hotel guests use on-site gyms.
