The Half Moon luxury resort in Montego Bay will undergo $75
million in improvements, including the addition of 57 units.
The 153-room resort plans to complete its upgrades by
November. It will add a lobby and concierge area called Great House in addition
to the new guestrooms.
The 400-acre beachfront property will add two restaurants
and a vegan cafe as well as a pool bar featuring driftwood-inspired
architecture and hanging lanterns designed to resemble fishing baskets.
Half Moon will also add an adults-only pool and expand its
beach to include a natural swimming cove. The resort's Fern Tree Spa will have
a new, manicured entry, while the property's service roads will be rerouted to
keep them out of sight of the guests.
Located about seven
miles east of Montego Bay proper, the resort opened in 1954. Its ownership
group includes three of the original 17 families who opened the resort.
