Kansas City landmark hotel joins Hilton's Curio collection

The Hotel Phillips, which opened as Kansas City, Mo.'s tallest building in 1931, has joined Hilton Worldwide's Curio collection after receiving a $20 million renovation.

The 20-story hotel, which is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places, features the original 11-foot Goddess of Dawn sculpture in its lobby as well as restored art deco design touches.

The Hotel Phillips also boasts a new restaurant called Tavernonna Italian Kitchen as well as an underground tavern called P.S. Speakeasy.

The 216-room hotel is located in downtown Kansas City's Power and Light (P&L) district.
