With the completion of InterContinental Hotels Group's acquisition of Kimpton
Hotels & Restaurants, Mike DeFrino has
succeeded Mike Depatie as Kimpton's CEO.
DeFrino, who was promoted from COO,
has been with Kimpton for almost two decades, starting out with the boutique hotel company in
1997 as general manager of the Alexis Hotel in Seattle. He had been the company’s COO since 2012.
“Kimpton is entering an unprecedented turning
point with IHG, and if I’ve learned a thing or two over the past 18 years with
the company, it’s that we’ve got the cultural foundation, passion and expertise
to take our unique approach to hospitality to the next level,” DeFrino said in a statement.
DePatie will manage KHP Capital Partners, along with Ben Rowe and Joe Long, Kimpton's former CFO and chief information officer, respectively.
KHP Capital Partners is the asset manager
for the real estate investment funds that own
approximately 30% of Kimpton’s properties.
