Margaritaville Holdings and all-inclusive resort operator
Karisma Hotels & Resorts reached an agreement to develop and operate the
first all-inclusive resorts under the Margaritaville brand as soon as next
year.
The brand will be called Margaritaville, an All-Inclusive
Experience by Karisma. No locations were disclosed, though the companies may
break ground on a beachfront property this year and may open it as soon as
2018.
Margaritaville, whose branding stems from the Jimmy Buffett
hit song of the same name, has eight resorts in the U.S. and Caribbean, but
they are not all-inclusive properties.
For Karisma, the deal is another partnership with a well-known brand. The
company last year opened a Nickelodeon all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana,
Dominican Republic, and has a Nickelodeon resort under construction in Mexico's
Riviera Maya.
Playa Hotels & Resorts, a Karisma competitor, recently inked
a deal to brand resorts with the Panama Jack name.
Karisma has 26 properties in Mexico, Latin America, the
Caribbean and Europe, under several brands, including El Dorado, Azul,
Generations, Sensatori and Nickelodeon.
