Marriott International is expanding its home-sharing pilot
beyond London to include units in Paris, Rome and Lisbon, bringing its offering
to 340 properties.
To extend the pilot, which Marriott branded Tribute
Portfolio Homes, the company is continuing its partnership with home rental
management company Hostmaker.
Marriott did not say how long the pilot would run -- its
London testing has been underway for five months now.
From the pilot, Marriott reported that guests who used
Tribute Portfolio Homes stayed more than two times longer on average than the
typical hotel stay and that guests typically sought units with multiple
bedrooms and full-home amenities, such as full kitchens and in-unit laundry.
More than 75% of stays were for leisure travel, often from
guests who chose to extend a business trip to include friend or family leisure
travel.
As with the London pilot, guests can book stays directly on
the Tribute Portfolio Homes site or through Marriott.com, and may
earn or redeem loyalty member points across the platform.
