SBE plans to open a Mondrian hotel in Mexico City in 2021.

Slated to break ground in the first quarter of this year, the Mondrian Polanco Hotel & Residences will house 144 hotel guestrooms (including 15 luxury suites) and 126 residences. The property will feature an outpost of SBE’s Katsuya restaurant as well as another culinary venue and bar.

The project is the first of 10 properties that SBE plans open throughout the greater Mexico City area in partnership with Mexican developer Be Grand. The second project for the pair, Mondrian Del Valle, will comprise 248 residences and is projected to open in 2022. The other properties will be flagged under other SBE brands, including SLS and Hyde.

The Mondrian Polanco Hotel & Residences and Mondrian Del Valle will join SBE’s existing Mondrian hotels in New York City, Miami, Los Angeles and Doha. SBE is expected to open its first Mexico property, SLS Cancun, sometime next year.
