New Bond film puts Nassau hotel in spotlight again

With the sixth 007, Daniel Craig, about to make his debut nationwide in the new James Bond film "Casino Royale" on Nov. 17, the Double-O suite at the British Colonial Hilton Nassau will get a major makeover as part of the property's refurbishment of its executive floor.

The hotel served as a location during the shooting of "Thunderball" (1965) and "Never Say Never Again" (1983).

In the 1983 film, Sean Connery's 007 checks in at reception and a memorable scene shows Bond at a bar at the end of the hotel's pier drinking a martini when Domino, played by actress Kim Basinger, who water skis right into his arms.

The bar, which was constructed for the movie and left behind by the film crew, remained on site for many years.

Killer amenities in the new Bond-themed, one-bedroom suite, scheduled for completion next summer, will include a martini bar (shaken, not stirred), personalized stationary and a four-poster bed, in addition to a collection of classic Bond DVDs, CDs and books.

The Double-O suite makeover will be part of the hotel's refurbishment of its executive floor of 21 suites and 26 rooms, all of which will receive Hilton's new Suite Dreams beds and Serenity Collection linens.
