The landmark Jumeirah Essex House on New York's Central Park South took the wraps off its newly renovated Presidential Suite, a 2,500-square-foot accommodation that has an exclusive art collection featuring Mark Innerst and Howard Daum, among others, and grand views of the park.
International designer Khuan Chew of KCA International, who also designed Jumeirah's Burj al Arab in Dubai, is the mastermind behind the transformation of the Presidential Suite.
It was redesigned into a "streamlined look with modern influences in art and accessories," the hotel said. It offers one master bedroom and one guest bedroom, a cedar wood closet, a security room with video surveillance of all the corridors, a kitchen and an express elevator.
A 24-hour butler service provides a customized experience from check-in to checkout, and an Inncom energy management system has been installed to turn the suite into a "smart room," controlling all lighting and temperature settings with an occupancy sensor. The rack rate is $8,000 per night.
The 509-room Jumeirah Essex House celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2007 and recently completed a $90 million soft goods refurbishment project.
