President Donald Trump acknowledged Thursday that U.S. hospitality and agriculture operators are saying immigration enforcement is removing longtime workers whose jobs are "almost impossible to replace."
"Our great Farmers and people in the Hotel and Leisure business have been stating that our very aggressive policy on immigration is taking very good, long time workers away from them, with those jobs being almost impossible to replace," Trump wrote on Truth Social on June 12, adding that "Changes are coming!"
Trump did not say what his administration would do to help hotels and farmers.
In his post, Trump also placed blame on the Biden administration for allowing "criminals" to apply for the aforementioned jobs, stating, "We must protect our Farmers, but get the CRIMINALS OUT OF THE USA."
His statements followed a wave of federal immigration raids, which have prompted protests in Los Angeles and other U.S. cities.
The hospitality industry's vulnerability to workforce disruptions has been a continuing concern. According to the Center for Migration Studies of New York, the U.S. hotel and restaurant sector employs approximately 880,000 undocumented workers -- making it the second-largest employer of undocumented workers after construction.
