Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is the latest hospitality group to debut complimentary medical coverage, announcing that all four of its hotels in Singapore will now provide guests with Covid-19 insurance at no extra charge through June 30.
Currently, the coverage is only available to international guests traveling to Singapore via the Reciprocal Green Lane or to guests in possession of an Air Travel Pass.
Under the initiative, travelers diagnosed with Covid-19 while staying at the Shangri-La Hotel Singapore, Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa Resort & Spa, the Jen Singapore Orchardgateway or the Jen Singapore Tanglin will receive emergency medical coverage of up to S$250,000, or approximately $189,375.
The policy, which is underwritten by insurance firm AIG, also covers additional accommodations and travel expenses should a guest need to extend his or her stay for medical reasons.
Eligible guests are automatically covered under the policy when booking direct through Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts' website, mobile app or via hotline or email.
Complimentary medical coverage has become an increasingly popular amenity throughout the pandemic, with the Palladium Hotel Group, Riu Hotels & Resorts and AIC Hotel Group all rolling out recent insurance protection programs in recent months.
