At least six businesses in the Downtown Disney district adjacent to Disneyland in Anaheim, California, will close in June to make way for the 700-room hotel that's slated to open in 2021.

ESPN Zone, Rainforest Cafe, Earl of Sandwich, Alamo and AMC Theaters as well as one of the district's Starbucks will shutter sometime in June. Disney owns and operates the ESPN Zone.

Construction on the new hotel starts this summer. The yet-to-be-named hotel will be Disneyland's first since the 1,019-room Grand Californian Hotel & Spa opened.

"Our plans represent our commitment to Anaheim and continued growth and transformation of Downtown Disney, and future Disneyland Resort, including our new hotel, which will create 2,500 jobs between construction and operation," Disneyland Resort spokeswoman Suzi Brown said in a statement. "We thank the operating participants that are closing this summer for their partnership over the years."

Disney said in January that its new and refurbished venues for this year would include Orange County's first Ballast Point craft-brew pub and brewery, California's first Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer restaurant and Splitsville Luxury Lanes.

Disney announced its plans for the new hotel last fall, and said at the time that it would be a Four Diamond hotel, in reference to the AAA rating which requires a property to be "refined, stylish with upscale physical attributes, extensive amenities and a high degree of hospitality, service and attention to detail."
