Sun Int'l to Overhaul Atlantic City Property

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J.-- Sun International Hotels said it will invest $150 million to redevelop and expand the Resorts Casino Hotel here into an 1,100-room gaming property called the Beach Club.

As reported, the New Jersey Casino Control Commission ruled that Sol Kerzner's Sun International was qualified to own and operate the property.

Its decision cleared the way for the company to begin the redevelopment, which will include construction of a 600-room hotel tower, an expansion of the casino and the redesign of public spaces.

The Beach Club is slated to open in the latter part of 1999.
