Thompson hotel to be part of Drever development in Dallas

Thompson Hotels plans to open a hotel next year in the iconic Dallas tower featured in the television series "Dallas."

The Thompson Dallas at the Drever will be the hospitality component of the 1.5-million-square-foot Drever project that is being redeveloped out of the First National Bank of Dallas building in the city's downtown district.

The 217-room hotel will include a 21,000-square-foot fitness center, an infinity pool and a 50th floor rooftop observation deck.

The building, which was constructed in 1961, features an exterior designed to resemble the pinstripes on a banker's suit. The property provided the façade for the "Ewing Oil" building in the TV show "Dallas," which ran from 1978-91.
