In the lead-up to the opening of Toy Story Land on June 30
at Walt Disney World Resort's Disney's Hollywood Studios, the company has
unveiled more details as to what guests can expect.
The new 11-acre land will be filled with larger-than-life
toys, building blocks and game pieces from the Disney-Pixar Toy Story films,
and characters from the movies including Woody, Buzz and Jessie will make
themselves available for interactions.
One of the rides is the Alien Swirling Saucers, which Disney
has just released the first images of. It was designed as a play set Andy won at
the Pizza Planet restaurant from the films in which green aliens have powered
up their flying saucers and guests whirl around in rocket ship toys and ride in
between toy planets and space stations.
Additionally, the films' Sarge and the Green Army Man Drum
Corps will be marching several times a day through Toy Story Land. Another
contingent of Green Army Men will lead an interactive "boot camp"
using giant Pixar balls and oversized crayons.
There will also be merchandise created especially for Toy
Story Land, including headbands crowned by three-eyed space aliens or Slinky
Dog and commemorative "I Played There" t-shirts.
