Hilton has forged an exclusive franchise agreement with Yotel, while making Yotel the first brand within its Select by Hilton portfolio.
Select by Hilton is designed to bring "high-quality, established hotel brands" into Hilton's fold without requiring them to give up their individual identity or brand management, Hilton said.
Under the agreement, Yotel will retain control of its brand and operations across its portfolio of 23 hotels in 10 countries while gaining access to Hilton's distribution infrastructure, technology platforms and loyalty program.
Yotel, which debuted in London in 2007, built its concept around efficient use of space in urban markets, incorporating tech-forward features such as automated luggage storage and its signature SmartBed, which converts from a flatbed to a sofa with the touch of a button.
The brand has three categories: Yotel for city-center hotels, Yotelpad for extended-stay properties and Yotelair for airport locations.
In the U.S., Yotel has city locations in New York, Boston, San Francisco, Miami and Washington, D.C. Among its international locations are London, Glasgow, Tokyo, Singapore, Bangkok and Amsterdam.
The brand has set a goal of tripling its portfolio. Hotels in Kuala Lumpur, Athens, Belfast, Lisbon and Saudi Arabia are in the pipeline.
