Discovery Cruise Line has partnered with Certified Vacations Group to offer wholesale packages under the Discovery Future Vacations brand.
Until now, Discovery’s product offerings were a ferry service from Fort Lauderdale to Grand Bahama Island, day-long cruises and cruise-hotel packages in Grand Bahama.
Under the new private-label agreement, Discovery Future Vacations will sell Certified Vacations’ entire product line: packages to destinations in Africa, Canada, the Caribbean, Central America, Europe, Hawaii, Mexico, the Middle East, South America and the U.S.
According to Discovery spokeswoman Roberta Turner, Discovery brings a “very strong database of loyal customers” to the deal. Discovery brings more than 200,000 people each year to the Bahamas, said Turner.
The cruise line is looking for greater penetration in the Caribbean market as well as in Florida, where many of Discovery’s clients have asked for pre- and post-Bahamas packages. The Dominican Republic and Mexico are logical extensions to Discovery’s existing business, Turner said.
Certified Vacations runs its own private-label brand, Future Vacations. Certified will operate Continental Airlines Vacations until the end of the year, when MLT Vacations will take over.
