Tour operators on Thursday reported that they are continuing
with their England itineraries as planned and did not experience any immediate
drop in bookings after the attack in London on Wednesday.
"As with Paris and Brussels before, there may be some
who will either think twice, or cancel their trips to London. But so far, this
morning, the bookings for our England tour are unchanged," stated Greg
Geronemus, co-CEO of New York-based SmarTours.
As for the Globus family of brands, the company had 69
travelers in London at the time of the incident and all are safe and sound,
according to the company.
"Evening theater excursions went off as planned and our
tour and vacation schedules were not affected," said Steve Born, Globus'
senior vice president of marketing.
Born said the company's reservation team reported that call
volumes and bookings were not negatively impacted one day after the attack.
"That tells me once again how resilient and informed
travelers of today are in not generalizing one incident to the point that it
alters their plans. We'll keep a close eye on this in the coming days, but our
initial sense is that, just like Londoners themselves, we will carry on,"
said Born.
