High-end packaged travel company Red Savannah, founded in
2011 by former Abercrombie & Kent executive George Morgan-Grenville, is
offering new escorted tours where travelers will engage with authors, historians, generals,
journalists, politicians and spies.
The destinations include Germany, Iran, Myanmar, Vietnam and
Cambodia.
An 11-day itinerary along the Chindwin and Irrawaddy rivers
in Myanmar will feature wildlife author Vicki Constantine Croke and will begin
in Mandalay. It will include a river cruise on Pandaw River Expeditions' Zawgyi
Pandaw. The tour departs Sept. 7 and starts at $7,133, based on double
occupancy (not including international air).
On Sept. 15, there will be a 10-day exploration of the Upper
Irrawaddy with World War II historian James Holland. The tour is priced from
$6,795 per person, double.
The 10-day "Iran in the footsteps of the Persian Empire"
will begin with an introductory talk by professor in Oriental studies Charles
Melville. It will include visits to the National Archaeological Museum and
Islamic Museum of Tehran, Isfahan, Yazd and Shiraz. The tour departs Oct. 20
and starts at $4,852 per person, double.
The 11-day "River of Times -- Sailing along the Mekong"
features Jon Swain, a former foreign correspondent with Agence France-Presse
and The Sunday Times. The tour begins in Ho Chi Minh City and includes a river
cruise aboard the Aqua Mekong. The itinerary departs Nov. 29, and starts at
$9,542 per person, double.
"Political Intrigue, Espionage & War" will
depart in October 2017 in Berlin.
