For the first time in Tauck's 92-year history, the tour
operator is pricing all of its 2018 tours and cruises in Canadian dollars
instead of in U.S. currency for its Canadian travelers.
Tauck said that the move will allow the company to guarantee
prices for Canadian travelers when they pay their initial deposit, eliminating
any subsequent pricing adjustments caused by fluctuations in the exchange rate.
A few years ago, the Canadian and U.S. dollars used to trade
at a rate not much above 1:1. But since the end of 2014, the U.S. dollar has
been gaining strength against the Canadian dollar. The U.S. dollar has been
hovering at a rate of around 1.3 Canadian dollars for at least the last year.
Agents based either in Canada or the U.S. can take advantage
of Tauck's Canadian pricing for any clients with a primary address within
Canada. Tauck's Canadian website began displaying prices in Canadian dollars
last week. The company's first brochure priced in Canadian dollars will be its
2018 European river cruises brochure, set to publish in April.
