Citing its growing faction of independent contractors (ICs), Flight Centre Travel Group's Independent Division has introduced a new incentive trip for its top 50 ICs.

This year, the "Independent Icons" trip will invite those top advisors to sail on Uniworld's S.S. Beatrice in November, traveling the Danube River from Budapest to Vienna. The group has chartered the ship for the trip.

The Independent Division includes Independent by Liberty Travel in the U.S. and Independent by Flight Centre in Canada. Those companies represent more than 1,700 independent agencies in Australia, New Zealand, the U.S., Canada and South Africa. The top 10 advisors from each country, and a guest, will be invited on the trip.

Flight Centre, No. 7 on Travel Weekly's 2022 Power List, already has a Global Gathering event for the top 10% of its staff, but the Independent Icons trip is designed just for ICs.

"As independent advisors are not employees of FCTG, this burgeoning faction of the business has decided to create an exclusive event to celebrate their achievements in a different way," Flight Centre said in a release.

The Independent Division also announced its annual conference, this year called a New Era of Independent, will be held in Punta Cana in May.
