Carnival Cruise Line’s new ship, the Mardi Gras, is scheduled to sail into Port Canaveral for the first time on Friday, June 4.

The Mardi Gras, the first cruise ship in the Americas powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) and the first to feature a roller coaster, has six themed zones and restaurants from Guy Fieri, Emeril Lagasse and Shaquille O’Neal.

An event welcoming the ship will include remarks from Carnival president Christine Duffy and Canaveral Port Authority CEO Capt. John Murray.

The Mardi Gras has always been scheduled to homeport in Port Canaveral, from where it will launch seven-day Caribbean itineraries. Carnival has not said when the ship will enter service, but the line did say that Port Canaveral was one of three ports from which the CDC approved plans for Carnival to operate.
