Jan Swartz has been named group president of Holland America Group, responsible for Princess Cruises, Holland America Line, Seabourn and P&O Australia and the Alaska tour operations, replacing Stein Kruse, who was named to the new role as senior advisor to the chairman and to the CEO of Carnival Corp.
Swartz has been group president of Princess Cruises and Carnival Australia since 2016 and had executive oversight of the P&O Cruises Australia brand. She became president of Princess in 2013 after more than 12 years with the cruise line. Prior to that she was executive vice president of sales, marketing and customer service operations.
Arnold Donald, Carnival Corp. CEO, called Swartz "a champion of innovation and a proven leader." He said that Kruse, in his new role, would provide "widespread benefits to the company." In the role, Kruse will be an advisor to both Donald, the president and CEO, and Micky Arison, Carnival Corp.'s chairman.
Kruse has been CEO of Holland America Group since 2013, after serving as CEO of Holland America Line for almost 10 years. He joined Holland America in 1999 as senior vice president, fleet operations. Prior to that he was senior vice president and chief financial officer at K Line America and had held executive positions at Radisson Seven Seas Cruises and Seven Seas Cruise Line.
Swartz started with Carnival Corp. in 2001 a vice president of strategy and business development, and worked on Carnival Corp's acquisition of P&O Princess. In 2004, she became senior vice president of sales and customer service for both Princess and sister brand Cunard.
