Say goodbye to the Oceania Nautica and hello to the Oceania Aurelia.

Oceania Cruises will rename the Nautica after the ship gets an extensive renovation next year. When the Nautica emerges as the Aurelia in late 2027, it will have fewer, but larger, accommodations, including new suite categories.

Built as the R Five for Renaissance Cruises in 2000, the Nautica joined Oceania's fleet in November 2005. The ship currently has 349 suites and staterooms for a 670-passenger capacity. After a drydock, it will have just 238 rooms and its suite mix will increase dramatically from 62 to 179.

Oceania chief luxury officer Jason Montague says the ship will feel smaller and "more club-like."

The new suite categories will be Oceania, Horizon, Oceanview and Inside suites. The existing Owner's, Vista and Penthouse suites will be remastered.

Most of the Aurelia's accommodations will exceed 300 square feet.

The coffee shop Baristas will be relocated to the Horizons lounge area. Also, Oceania's Bakery and the Crêperie will be added, as will the Founders Bar, a specialty cocktail bar on the Allura-class ships.

The cruise line declined to share any other changes planned for the ship's transformation. The project is part of the cruise line's OceaniaNext initiative to update the onboard experience.

Earlier this month, Oceania announced it will renovate the Oceania Marina in October. Oceania will update staterooms and refresh public venues and add the Founders Bar and the Chef's Studio, plus a bakery to Baristas.
