The San Clemente Palace Kempinski Venice opened March 24 on a private island in the Venice lagoon, 10 minutes by speedboat from Piazza San Marco.

The 190-room property is set on a former monastery and offers views of the Venice skyline, Giudecca, the lagoon and the Lido.

Amenities include three restaurants and three bars, a pitch-and-putt golf course, a tennis court, heated outdoor pool, jogging trails and a Kempi Kids Club.

The hotel will be open for its inaugural season through Nov. 8.

Nightly rates, which include breakfast at the resort's Insieme Restaurant, range from about $570 to $11,000 for the San Clemente Suite.
