"Top Chef" alum and Hilo native Sheldon Simeon will square off with chef Rodman Machado of the Aqua Kauai Beach Resort in a friendly competition where the winners are the diners.
The resort's Naupaka Terrace will host the chef showdown on April 28, and each chef will create dishes highlighting the fruits, vegetables and other products found on Kauai.
The evening will begin with a meet-and-greet reception, including pupus and specially cocktails featuring Kauai's Koloa rum. The inventive five-course dinner that follows includes wine pairings and a nightcap for guests around an outdoor fire pit.
Simeon came in third in the most recent season of Bravo's "Top Chef" TV series.
Guests will also get to take home signed menus and recipes. The event is priced at $100 per person.
