Construction workers broke ground on a $500 million mixed-use development on Kapiolani Boulevard in the Ala Moana area of Honolulu at the end of October.

The 400-foot, 43-story Sky Ala Moana project from Avalon Group and JL Capital will offer 390 residential market-priced condominiums its west tower, while the second tower will hold 84 affordable units called The Flats, and a hotel-condominium with roughly 300 studio, one- and two-bedroom units.

The two towers will also feature 16,000 square feet of commercial space, and an eighth-floor amenity deck with gardens, cabanas with barbecues, multiple pools, indoor and outdoor fitness centers, and a dog run.

Construction is scheduled to be completed in 2022.
