The Botero Lounge, a centerpiece of the Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Resort on Maui, has officially reopened with new design elements and a new dining concept and cocktail menu.
Named after artist Fernando Botero, the Botero Lounge features nine of his contemporary bronze sculptures. The outdoor lounge feels like an outdoor art museum, and its bar invites guests to sit down and stay awhile.
As part of its refresh, the lounge now has a Japanese-inspired menu featuring sushi prepared by a Masaharu Morimoto-trained chef. Items on the menu include tako (octopus) carpaccio with chimichurri and Hawaiian snapper with miso. The cocktails are also Japanese-inspired with a selection of drinks featuring Japanese whisky and Neri-mitsu syrup, white rice vodka and Sakura powder and dried blossoms for garnish.
Guests are also able to participate in workshops, including sushi-making, whisky tastings and cocktail mixing.
