Highgate, a New York-based hospitality management and real estate company, has named Cheryl Williams regional vice president of sales and marketing for Hawaii.

Highgate recently launched the Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach, and Williams will oversee sales for that property and the rest of the company's Aloha State portfolio.

 "Cheryl is known for her strategic focus, customer relationships and creative thinking, which have led to market-leading results in her previous leadership roles," Steve Barick, chief operating officer of Highgate said in a statement. "We look forward to her leadership in our six Hawaii properties."

Williams most recently served as general manager of the Royal Hawaiian, and previously held the role of vice president of sales and marketing for Starwood Hotels and Resorts for Hawaii and French Polynesia.

"Highgate's diverse portfolio of Hawaii properties represents a unique opportunity to create highly personalized guest experiences inspired by the rich culture and history of the Hawaiian Islands," Williams said in the statement. "I am excited to welcome hotel guests to Hawaii and ensure that we maintain Highgate's stature as the global gold standard for travel and hospitality."

Williams also serves on the boards of the Oahu Visitors Bureau, Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau and the Hawaii Lodging and Tourism Association, and she chairs the Hawaii Tourism Authority MCI Strategic Planning Committee.
