Marriott International has announced the promotion of two chefs into new leadership roles at different Waikiki properties that are both owned by Kyo-ya Hotels and Resorts.
Blake Kajiwara has been named director of restaurant operations at Sheraton Princess Kaiulani, after previously serving as executive sous chef at Sheraton Waikiki. In his new role, Kajiwara will oversee all food and beverage operations including banquets, in-room dining and outlets such as Pikake Terrace and Splash Bar.
Lenny Ushidate has taken the role of executive sous chef at The Royal Hawaiian, a Luxury Collection Resort. Ushidate has worked in the kitchen at the resort's Azure Restaurant since 2008, and is a graduate of Honolulu's Kapiolani Community College.
