The Mauna Kea Resort has named Micah Akau the Island of Hawaii property's manager of marketing and public relations.

Akau brings over five years of marketing, communications and sales experience in Hawaii's hospitality industry to his new role at the resort and returns to the staff after starting his career there in 2016 as a marketing and media coordinator.
His experience in Hawaii's hospitality industry includes positions with Anthology Marketing Group and DeSilva Meeting Consultants. Most recently, Akau was a senior account executive at Miceli Valenti Ng Pack, where he oversaw marketing, public relations and website efforts for several Hawaii-based hospitality clients.
At the Mauna Kea Resort, Akau will manage public relations and marketing initiatives for both the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and the Westin Hapuna Beach Resort.
A native of the Hamakua Coast on the north side of the Big Island, Akau attended the University of Hawaii at Hilo.
