A good vacation means many things to different people. For those who
can’t sit still, and prefer a good sweat to a fruity cocktail, luxury resorts
are responding with packages that will let them take their workouts to a new
level with world-class athletes.
In
Colorado, Beaver Creek’s Westin Riverfront
Resort & Spa is offering one-on-one triathlon training
getaways with Xterra world champion Josiah Middaugh, an 11-time
Xterra USA national champion and six-time USSSA national snowshoe champion who
recently won the Xterra Argentina race.
With
rates starting at $1,015 per night in a one-bedroom suite, the Westin Riverfront Champions of Luxury
Package includes three hours of personal of training with Middaugh
– one in the pool, one on a CompuTrainer bike and a one-hour gym session – as
well as a 100-minute Rocky Mountain Sports Massage at Spa Anjali, a Fitbit
activity tracker and a $100 Starwood SuperFoods dining credit.

The
package will be available through the end of 2016 and are based on Middaugh’s
availability.
In Los Cabos, Mexico, the One&Only Palmilla next month is
offering a four-day Live Life Alive health and wellness package that include stand-up paddleboarding and high-intensity workouts with athletes
such as big-wave surfer Laird Hamilton and fitness expert and Olympic beach
volleyball champion Gabrielle Reece.
The package, offered from June 10 to 13,
includes HighX explosive circuit training, a high-intensity conditioning
program designed to burn fat, build muscle and optimize hormone and
physiological responses to exercise by Reece and Team USA Olympian rower Erin
MacKenzie.
Hamilton, Team USA stand-up paddleboard racer
and surfer Chuck Glynn and endurance champion Brian MacKenzie will lead an Xpt
pool-training water workout that includes breathing exercises and rejuvenating
heat and ice routines.
The program also includes a daily nutrition
program, with custom-designed menus by chefs Larbi Dahrouch and Yoshi Akaike,
as well as a welcome dinner with the athletes and complimentary, three-piece
weekend fitness outfits supplied by Laird Apparel and Eden Activewear.
Rates start at $2,747 for one person and $3,900
for two for accommodations in an oceanfront room.
