Alphonse Island in Seychelles has undergone a complete renovation, reopening its doors as a luxury resort on Oct. 1.

All 22 beach bungalows and five spacious beach villas on the island have been refurbished to create a more "barefoot luxury" feel. However, the main focus of the renovation lies in the experiences the island now offers.

Travelers can partake of nature conservation walks to the uninhabited islands of Bijoutier and St. Francois. They'll also be able to overnight on the resort's catamaran in the St. Francoise lagoon.

The resort also opened a dive center. The islands feature exceptional turtle sightings with very healthy breeding populations covering both atolls. The reefs are still untouched, pristine and teeming with activity, and dolphins often joining the excursions. Courses offered at the center include the full PADI suite from Open Water to Divemaster as well as the Discover Scuba diving course.

Alphonse Island taps into the "Real Seychelles," where everything is still raw, flawless and untouched, said Amanda Lang, marketing manager for Alphonse Island.  "Alphonse Island is not just another island resort; it is a destination where the real luxury lies in the experience."
