The Royal Portfolio, South Africa's luxury hotel group, has opened Franschhoek House, an exclusive-use villa located within La Residence Estate in the Cape Winelands.
The six-suite property accommodates up to 12 guests and is situated an hour's drive from Cape Town in the heart of South Africa's renowned wine region.
Interior design for the villa was created by Royal Portfolio owner Liz Biden, featuring her signature maximalist style with influences drawn from African birdlife, vintage French aesthetics and Indian textiles. The property showcases an extensive collection of contemporary African art, including works by Franklyn Dzingai, Tega Tsfadzwa, Amanda Mushate, Chokuwamba, Kate Gottgens and Grace Nyahanga, alongside a 17th-century tapestry by David Teniers II from Aubusson, France.
Each suite has been individually designed with luxury fabrics, antique furniture and curated artworks, complemented by high-pitched ceilings and large windows that maximize natural light.
Pool table and a heated pool
Central to the property is The Long Room, a communal space featuring a bar, lounge and full-size billiard table. Additional amenities include a kitchen where a private chef prepares farm-to-table cuisine, multiple patios and a private heated swimming pool set within landscaped gardens beneath a 200-year-old oak tree.

The villa's location provides access to Franschhoek Valley's wineries, restaurants and cultural attractions, positioning it for both private retreats and celebration gatherings.
Franschhoek House joins The Royal Portfolio's collection of luxury properties across South Africa, which includes Royal Malewane in Greater Kruger National Park, Birkenhead House in Hermanus, La Residence in Franschhoek, The Silo Hotel in Cape Town, and Waterside at Royal Malewane.
