Three airlines will be launching routes or increasing capacity on the Victoria Falls route as a result of the expansion of the Victoria Falls Airport in Zimbabwe.

South African Airways (SAA) has increased capacity between Johannesburg and Victoria Falls. The recent introduction of Airbus A330-200 widebody aircraft on the route adds 60% more capacity in each direction daily.

SAA's Airbus A330-200 aircraft accommodates 222 passengers, in a dual-class configuration of 36 premium business class seats and 186 economy class seats. The flights between Johannesburg and Victoria Falls offer convenient connections to/from SAA's New York JFK and Washington Dulles flights, providing easy access for North American travelers.

"Victoria Falls is the leading Zimbabwean destination for North American travelers and this aircraft will enable SAA to accommodate the growth in tourism that the market is enjoying," said Todd Neuman, SAA's executive vice president-the Americas.

South African Airlink is introducing nonstop service between Cape Town and Victoria Falls on July 2. The new flights will operate six days per week with 37-passenger Embraer regional jets.

Kenya Airways will operate flights from Nairobi to Victoria Falls from May 1. The airline will operate three flights a week, on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

The route will be operated by an Embraer E190 configured with 12 seats in business class and 84 in economy.
