Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda have opened their borders to international travelers. Listed below are the protocols for visiting the three African nations.

Kenya:

• No mandatory quarantine for arriving nternational visitors unless they show symptoms of the Covid-19 virus.
• Foreign tourists shall present evidence of Covid-19-free certificate/clearance not more than 14 days old before accessing any tourist facility, attraction site or undertaking any activity with a tourism enterprise.
• Disinfection and temperature checking procedure shall be in place at the point of guests arrival/check-in and at all other entries.
• Guests already cleared at the airport/border points and have Covid-19-free certificates will only undergo temperature screening on arrival.
• Guests' temperatures shall be checked with a noncontact thermometer and special attention paid to guests whose temperature reading is above 37.50 C (99.5 degrees Fahrenheit) or exhibiting respiratory symptoms.
• Guests with temperature readings above the normal are recorded, and such guests will not be allowed access to the premises, and swift action is taken to inform medical/health officers. Such guests will be taken to a government quarantine facility at their own cost.
• Guests/visitors must wear appropriate, quality personal protective equipment (masks) except when in their room(s) or while dining.

Tanzania:

• International travelers do not need to bring negative Covid-19 test.
• International travelers will be checked at the port of arrival for Covid-19 symptoms by measuring temperature.
• International travelers must have valid health/medical insurance before arrival in Tanzania.
• International travelers are encouraged to apply for online e-visas prior to arrival in Tanzania.
• In case of no symptoms of Covid-19, the traveler can proceed to the hotel without any limitations and without any need for quarantine.
• In case of showing symptoms of Covid-19, the government will proceed with the coronavirus test in their special facility.
• Free movement around the country is allowed.
• Wearing a mask while in public spaces is recommended.
• Keep social distance.
• All tourist facilities will follow the governmental standard operation procedures to ensure the country remains a safe destination.

Rwanda:

• Visitors traveling by charter flights (individual and groups) will be welcomed to the country.
• All visitors are expected to test negative for Covid-19 within 72 hours prior to arrival.
• Tourists will take a second Covid-19 test prior to visiting any tourist attraction. The following options are available:
    -- Tourists can take the first Covid-19 RT-PCR (Real Time Polymerase Chain Reaction) test in the country of origin at an ISO-certified laboratory, 72 hours before departure, and the second test will be taken upon arrival at Kigali International Airport. They are required to submit the results of the first test to the following address ([email protected]) before departure and also upon arrival at Kigali International Airport. They will be expected to wait eight hours for results of the second test at designated hotels in Rwanda. This is applicable to direct flights only.
    -- Tourists who are not able to test in their country of origin have the option to be tested twice in Rwanda: The first test will be taken upon arrival at Kigali International Airport while the second test will be taken 48 hours after arrival. Tourists will only be expected to visit tourist sites after two consecutive negative tests and will wait for their results at designated hotels.
• An optional test may be provided on request at departure.
• The cost of the Covid-19 test will be included in tour packages.
• While in the country, visitors and flight crew members are expected to abide by guidelines of the Health Ministry and specific guidelines for tourists' attractions, including national parks.
