The Gates Hotel South Beach unveiled its to all public areas, including the entrance, lobby bar and lounge and pool deck as well as a "reimagination" of its guestrooms.

Originally built in 1954 as the Anakara Motel, the art deco building retains its historical charm while upgrading furnishings, services and amenities.

The Miami Beach hotel now features two entrances, one on Collins Avenue and one on Liberty Avenue, improving the flow of traffic into the common areas. The lobby is unmistakably South Beach, with a color palette in dusty pink, seafoam green and teal.

"Some important tenets to address in the design were to create intimacy and warmth in the lobby and provide a variety of seating arrangements for positive social dynamics," said Dieter Cartwright of Dutch East Design, chief designers on the project.

The pool deck now flaunts double-sided cabanas for a retreat ideal for families, groups of friends or couples looking for romance and seclusion. The pool deck leads to the newly launched Mexican restaurant, Agaveros Cantina, and guests will find a communal table for outdoor dining or sipping one of the restaurant's more than 100 tequilas and mezcals.

The Gates' 235 guestrooms now feature art by Jorge De La Torres of Key West's De La Gallery.

Welcome cocktails now feature vodka from local distillery Our/Vodka. Bicycles from the Martone Cycling Co. are available to guests, and Five Feet to Fitness rooms include in-room fitness equipment like stationary bikes and guided, on-screen workout routines.
