Air Senegal will launch U.S. service on Sept. 2, flying from the Senegalese capital of Dakar to New York JFK with continuing service to Washington Dulles.

The West African airline, which began operations in 2018, will fly the route twice weekly using an Airbus A330-900neo. The three-cabin aircraft will offer 32 lie-flat seats in business class, a 21-seat premium economy cabin and 237 seats in economy.

Air Senegal said it hopes to facilitate the growth of inbound trade and tourism to Senegal. The route will also serve the New York and D.C. West African diaspora. From Dakar, Air Senegal offer connections to Abidjan, Ivory Coast; Bamako, Mail; Conakry, Guinea; Banjul, The Gambia; Ziguinchor, Senegal; and Nouakchott, Mauritania. Freetown, Sierra Leone, service will also begin soon, the carrier said.

Air Senegal will compete on Dakar-JFK with daily Delta service, according to Cirium schedule data.

Correction: Air Senegal is offering connections to Abidjan, Ivory Coast, not to Abuja, Nigeria.
