United, Delta and American have issued fare-difference waivers for customers who want to change international return dates to the U.S. to before the new Covid-19 testing requirement goes into place.
On Delta and American, fare differences will be waved for customers scheduled to fly to the U.S. through Feb. 9 if they rebook travel to begin by Jan. 25. Tickets must have originally been purchased by Tuesday.
United's waiver is similar. Fare differences won't apply for customers scheduled to fly to the U.S. through Feb. 15, provided they rebook their travel to begin by Jan. 25.
All three carriers were already waiving change fees on international flights.
The CDC announced Tuesday that travelers must show proof of a negative Covid-19 test taken with 72 hours in order to board a flight to the U.S., beginning Jan. 26.
