Beijing Capital airport, which was the second busiest airport in the world in 2019, has unveiled a biometric deployment that enables a touchless experience from check-in to gate.
The deployment in Beijing, said the technology provider Sita, encompasses more than 600 checkpoints throughout the airport, including 250 lanes of automatic gates, 80 kiosks and 30 bag-drop stations to process passengers from international flights.
The system uses facial recognition to facilitate touchless passenger movement from check-in through immigration, security and boarding.
Airport and airlines have rushed to implement touchless solutions since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.
